ITINERARY
Day 1 — Arrive into Anchorage After arriving into Anchorage and a long day of travel, settle into your hotel to get some rest before your Alaskan adventure begins. Meals included: None
Day 2 — Anchorage to Kenai Fjords After breakfast at the hotel we will begin our two-hour drive south to the town of Seward where you board your six-hour boat tour through Kenai Fjords National Park. The cruise glides past seals, whales and puffins as we explore coastal rainforests, tidewater glaciers and remote Alaskan islands. Experienced and engaging captains narrate the trip, so you walk away knowing a whole lot more about Kenai Fjords National Park and its wonders. Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Day 3 — Kenai Fjords Exploration Today you’ll explore the turquoise waters and wooded riverbank scenery with talented guides leading the way. The guides handle the rowing and navigation so that you can relax, take in the sights, ask questions and scan for abundant wildlife along the river, including owls, ducks, waterfowl, moose and sometimes bears. And don’t forget the Kenai River is home to migrating salmon! You will enjoy a picnic lunch along the shores of the river. Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Day 4 — Kenai Fjords to Talkeetna This morning learn about the lifestyle of Seward’s own Iditarod family and see what it takes to prepare musher and sled dogs for the world’s most demanding race. Tour the racing kennels, cuddle puppies, and climb aboard a comfortable custom made and covered wheeled sled for a thrilling two-mile sled ride from the Seavey Homestead to the base of Resurrection Mountain. Both Dallas and Mitch Seavey are Iditarod winners. After lunch in town we will begin our journey north to Talkeetna with a possible hike stop along the way. Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Day 5 — Overflight of Denali or Reed Lakes A highlight of any Alaska trip is an overflight of Denali (for an additional cost), providing a bird’s eye view of the Alaska Range including Mount Denali, Mount Hunter, Mount Foraker as well as seven glaciers featuring the 45-mile long Kahiltna Glacier. If you prefer we can do an epic 9-mile hike (or as far as you want to go) to a waterfall and alpine lakes with some rock and boulder hopping mixed in. After the hike we will make our way north to Denali State Park to stretch our legs at Byers Lake before arriving in time for dinner just outside Denali National Park. Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Day 6 — Denali National Park Start the day with a hearty breakfast. Then we will board a Denali Park Shuttle for a day long trip (8-9 hours) taking us to the heart of the park at the Eielson Visitor’s Center. Along the way the bus will stop for key historical points, photo opportunities, and as the bus encounters any wildlife along the way which can include moose, grizzly bear, mountain goats, and more. After a full day in the park relax in the 6 acres that surround our bed & breakfast. Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Day 7 — Exploring Denali’s Front Country Today is all about stretching our legs on the many front country trails Denali offers and trying to find as much wildlife as we can as you never know when a moose, grizzly bear, beaver, or other wildlife will show themselves. We can also visit the Denali sled dog team this afternoon. Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Day 8 — Triple Lakes Hike & Return to Anchorage Before we say farewell to Denali we will venture out to the Triple Lakes Hike, along the eastern border of the park, providing opportunities to see moose feeding at the lakes, walking along the Nenana River, and great views of the Alaskan Range.
